President: Alison Santa Marie
Alison Santa Maria, MAT, CALT earned membership to ALTA in 2014 at the Practitioner level and advanced to the Therapy level in 2016. In 2015, Alison was awarded the National ALTA Therapy Level Scholarship, recognizing her contribution to improving services for those with dyslexia. She has served on the ALTA-RMC board since 2015 in many positions including: Membership, Marketing, and President-Elect. She has loved her board service since the beginning and is proud to serve alongside such brilliant, talented, and inspiring women. Alison helped the board find their "north star", the vision and mission statements that both anchors and guides as they conduct all board business. The vision and mission of ALTA-RMC have since been carried out and into the lives of teachers, students, and community members, which makes Alison incredibly proud of what can be accomplished when you work together with purpose. Alison works full-time in the private practice she founded, Springs Literacy Center. She has three wonderful employees that help her achieve a personal mission of helping dyslexic students in the Colorado Springs community succeed through research-based tutoring and intervention. In her free time, Alison loves spending time inside her second business, Meadowfound Ceramics studio, or outside on the trails with her husband Skye and their beloved dog, Hoagie. President Elect: Lisa Crellin Lisa Crellin, M.A.T, CALT attended the Literacy Interventionist Certification Specialist Program (LISCP) offered through Colorado Literacy and Learning Center, and became a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) in 2016. She also received her Master's of Teaching degree from Colorado College. Lisa taught as a Reading Interventionist at Ben Franklin Academy and as a Learning Specialist at Children's Hospital Colorado, both in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Lisa moved to Salt Lake City in 2018 where she has continued her private practice. Lisa is currently realizing one of her goals of assisting her grandchildren capture and love the written word. She cherishes the time when her grandchildren rest their heads on her shoulders as she reads to them. Lisa also enjoys interior design, cooking for family and friends, walking, and reading. Secretary: Stacie Barkes-Turley Treasurer: Angela Williams Angela Williams, MAT, CALP has been a member of ALTA since 2017 as a Certified Academic Language Practitioner and is working towards the Therapist level for the Spring of 2021. She received her MAT in Literacy Intervention at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Angela is originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she taught elementary grade levels for over ten years. Since moving to Colorado in 2009, she has taught for five years with a focus on Literacy Intervention. Angela holds a teaching license in Elementary Education, and has obtained a Reading Specialist endorsement from the Colorado Department of Education. She is passionate about helping dyslexic students succeed through small group intervention and tutoring. In her free time, Angela loves spending time with her husband, Jason, and her three wonderful children; Abigail, Dean, and Blake. VP Website: Tammy Jacobson Tammy Jacobson, MA, MAT, CALT has been a member of ALTA since 2018. She received her training through the Colorado Literacy and Learning Center in conjunction with Colorado College from which she earned her masters degree in Literacy Intervention. Tammy also holds a master's degree in special education from UCCS. Tammy holds licenses in Special Education, Elementary Education, and Reading Specialist from the state of Colorado. She has additional training in IMSE-OG and HillRAP. Tammy is the founder of The READ Center in Colorado Springs where she provides therapy and evaluations for children and adolescents with dyslexia. In her free time, Tammy enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and running with her running team. VP Marketing: Brianna DeLorme VP Membership and Membership Events: Nan Tirado Nanette Tirado, MAT, CALT lives in Colorado Springs and received her training through The Colorado College Masters of Art in Teaching program. As a reading interventionist, Nan has been a member of ALTA since 2013 and became a Certified Academic Language Therapist in 2017. Currently, she has an active private practice in her home, working with students of all ages. In her free time, she enjoys reading, biking, cooking and spending time with her family. VP Professional Development: Cindy Kanuch VP Community Outreach: Kim Fitzpatrick Kimberly FitzPatrick received her training through the Colorado Literacy and Learning Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she completed the Literacy Intervention Specialist Certificate Program. Kim has her Masters of Arts in Teaching and has over 18 years of teaching experience, private therapy, and providing remediation at the Colorado Literacy and Learning Center. Currently, Kim works as a Learning Specialist with Children's Hospital Colorado. Kim is certified through ALTA as a Certified Academic Language Therapist. In her free time, Kim loves watching football and hockey, reading, and spending time with her family. |
